Streetlight

I love the foggy mornings and evenings in my part of the world through winter. The fog is a portal to dream worlds for me. If I wait long enough in the mysterious, thick air, something wonderful may emerge. . . . or something freaky . . . . or something new. I am waiting. There is magic in the mist. I can feel it. Be it shadow or light that emerges, I welcome both. They have equal power to move me into the depths and heights of new worlds.

As I was creating my vision board for the new year, two phrases drew me in.

The Art of Allowing. Can I allow Life to emerge in an organic way? Can I allow Goodness in? Can I soften and allow for Love? Can I allow Abundance to flow to me? These simple questions are revealing hidden pockets of inner resistance to concepts of ease, peace, abundance, love, and goodness. Could I rewrite this story that all good things must come through hard work and suffering? What if my intentions could become reality by simply learning how to allow them as I peacefully co-create with the energies that come forward?

Let it happen. I have worked my ass off for the last four years to make it happen. And happen it has. At the end of December, I made a list of successes of my last decade. I was astounded. I am empowered to create the kind of life I want to be living. I am doing it. Hard work is definitely one way to get where I want to go. I have proven that to myself.

But there is an invitation in the fog this winter. It is just a whisper. As I carefully listen to the elements, they speak their wisdom and promptings quite clearly. The fog is asking me to dream and to wait for the Mystery to emerge. Let. It. Happen.

May you know the balance of making and letting it happen. I’m learning . .

I’ll leave you tonight under the streetlight with one of my favorite artists, Joshua Radin. May you feel more ease in the acquiring of what you dream about this year. Maybe you’ll find it standing in front of you when the fog clears in spring. I’m certainly hoping I do!

Streetlight (YouTube link)

I’ll wait for something under a streetlight
It won’t be long
Because it’s dark it’s cold
It’s one of those nights where
There’s something out there
Keeps me alive

But I don’t know where to go
So I think I’ll sit and stay here a while
Till I figure it out

So let the wind blow us
To wherever it says
We are supposed to go

When you want something but can’t name it
It’s under a streetlight
It’s something you’ve never seen before
Open the door
It’s something you’ve always been afraid of
It’s under a streetlight
And now all you want is more

But I don’t know where to go
So I think I’ll sit and stay here a while
Till I figure it out

So let the wind blow us
To wherever it says
We are supposed to go
So let the wind blow us
To wherever it says
We are supposed to go
We are supposed to go

I don’t mind the wait it’s fine
As long as you know
It’s the wait that could be the something
So let the wind blow us
To wherever it saysWe are supposed to go
So let the wind blow us
To wherever it says
We are supposed to go
We are supposed to go
